A playful moment of sharing, enjoying and laughing at Cap Canaille

July 30, 2010

A beautiful sunny day allowed parents and children to get together in a joyful and happy surroundings at the time of the first summer barbecue of the year at Cap Canaille, Villars-sur-Glâne.

The Cap Canaille team organised a fantastic banquet of delicious meats, salads and nibbles along with fresh drinks for everyone’s pleasure.

Children looked very happy to meet all together and play in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Parents didn’t hide their pleasure to spend time together of sharing, enjoying and laughing allowing them to get to know each other better and to strike up new friendships.

“It’s true that it’s a real pleasure to meet other parents. It’s the first time we get the chance to discuss together.”

“It’s so pleasant. We are already looking forward to the next barbecue!”

Cap Canaille Rolle is expanding to accommodate demand for enrolment

June 27, 2010

To be able to welcome more children to our day-care centre and share our services with more parents, Cap Canaille Rolle is expanding to accommodate rapidly increasing demand for enrolment.

Over the past few months, we have been approached by a large number of families who wish to entrust us with the care of their children. As Cap Canaille’s waiting list grew beyond expectations we decided to expand our facilities. We were so lucky to identify an excellent location for Cap Canaille’s extension in the building just behind the current premise.

The new extension, opening in July 2010, is a  450 square meter facility that will provide ample space for indoor play areas, diverse activities and creative learning. The extension will not only provide children with new opportunities for discovery, fun learning and personal development, but it will also enable us to regroup children so that activities could better cater to the needs and requirements of each age group. This regrouping entails that some of the children in our present premise will move to the new extension.  Moreover, the extension will offer parents a more spacious reception area for interaction with Cap Canaille team, as well as provisions for one-to-one meetings with teachers.

Teachers will also be provided with additional working stations and areas dedicated for preparation of activities and for break time.

As the extension becomes fully operational, an in-house kitchen will be available, offering balanced, freshly cooked meals suited for the needs of all children. For the convenience of parents, more parking spaces will also become available.

Cap Canaille’s expansion is intended to extend our caring, homelike childcare environment to more parents. Our philosophy, objectives, open-door policy and operating hours all remain the same.

We will keep you posted on the date and time of a planned open-day to celebrate the inauguration of the new extension.

Meet our Team

June 2, 2010

Let us introduce you to our team members who work hard everyday to make Cap Canaille the most pleasant and stimulating place for your children. Our team is what makes Cap Canaille such a particular environment where children feel secure and where they can blossom at their own pace. They know how to create this unique atmosphere where everyone feels welcomed and valued.

This week we’d like you to meet Catherine Noth who is currently responsible for the middle aged English-speaking groups in Cap Canaille, Villars-sur-Glâne.

Catherine Noth, or Cathou as everyone calls her at Cap Canaille, is fribourgeoise and lives since two years in Le Pâquier not far away from Bulle. She holds a schoolmistress certificate and naturally saw her opportunity in childcare. She spent a year in England as au pair “nanny” and volunteer. When she returned home she worked two years for the Swissair Company before getting back to the world of early childhood in a day-care center in Basel for six years. She’s now back in the French part of Switzerland after spending eight years in a Swiss German environment.

Cathou is responsible for the middle-aged English-speaking children group at Cap Canaille and she’s also the mother of a three and a half year old boy named Luca.

She describes herself as a thoroughgoing and always active person who loves people. Her best asset in the day-care center would be her artistic qualities. She thinks that it just takes some bright colors in life to make people smile and their eyes glitter like stars.

Cathou’s most efficient stimulant would be to give herself new goals and achieve them. “Our greatest victory isn’t never to fall, but to raise again every time we do!” That’s what makes her move on when things get a little hard to handle. So as to avoid conflicts and misunderstanding, she was told to always reformulate a word or a sentence, simply because each and every one of us understands and interprets situations in different ways.

Today, enriched of great experiences and beautiful moments, she feels like her growing passion about her work is definitely related to the fact that every day is a different day besides the rituals maintained with the children.
